Thesis: Fast-fashion should be eliminated from the world
What I hope to learn from this source:
I want to learn
about the correlation between the develpong countries and fast fashion industry
from this source. Especially I want to learn about the poor treatment to the
workers who are from developing countires of fast fashion enterprises.
Notes:
1. Even though the
label of cloth says “Made in U.S.A.”, the cloth is from developing countries.
Because, usually, the factories are in developing countries. In developing
countries, there are a lot of cheap labor force and cheap building sites, but
the head office is usually in developed countries so the clothing company mark “Made
in ○○”,; ○○
means developed countries, for example, U.S.A..
2. Most of the laborers are women,
children who are second-class citizens of the world. They have to work 20 hours
a day but they receive small pay. This form is normally exploitation of the
labor and they have no choice but work in sweatshop with beating and swear
words.
The textile company’s owner in
Dhaka is beating the child worker who works 10 hours a day and gets 1 dollar a
day.
3. “Forever 21”, “Weat seal”, and “GAP”
are fast-fashion companies in U.S.A., they exploitate the workers(they are usually
women and children) with 10-12 working hours a day, unsanitary surrounding
environment. It makes the company’s reduction in a budget and flourishing of
the company.
Final
Thoughts:
It is too soon to
relax that the clothes’ labels say “Made in countries that are developed
countires”, because they do not mark the name of developing countries. Also, it
is surprising that the big enterprises such as “Forever 21” or “GAP” that are
familiar brands even in Korea make an explitation to children and women who are
the weak. Actually I thought the harsh exploitation is the behavior of olden
days, but it was not. I decided not to wear the fast-fashion clothes for the
environment of not only developing countries but also the world, and for
keeping the laborers’ human rights.
